Professional Standards

The Professional Standards Bureau is responsible for the investigation of public complaints related to the conduct of officers as well as to the services and/or operational policies of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

At the direction of the Chief of Police and/or the Deputy Chief of Police, this Bureau also conducts internal investigations and reviews of major incidents to ensure we are complying with established policies as well as the current standards of performance in policing.   

This Bureau also conducts various audits to ensure compliancy to our quality assurance process as well as the overall integrity and effectiveness of the Service.
