Prince Township

Policing in the Township of Prince

In 1999, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service entered into an agreement to provide adequate and effective police services to the Township of Prince.

Prince Township covers an area of 84.28 square kilometres and according to the 2006 Canada Census has a population of 971 persons.  Prince Township lies to the west and north of the municipal boundaries of the City of Sault Ste. Marie.  Its western boundary is comprised of a portion of the coastline of Whitefish Bay of Lake Superior while its northern boundary is shared with Dennis Township, one of the 31 townships designated as part of the Sault Ste. Marie North Planning Area.  Highway 550 runs east-west through the Township while Highway 565 extends south through the Township to connect with Pointe Deschenes, Pointe Louise, and the municipal airport all in the City of Sault Ste. Marie.

It is the goal of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service to ensure the safety and security of the residents of the Township of Prince.  Much time and effort has also been expended to develop a three year business plan that includes the policing needs of this mostly rural community adjacent to Sault Ste. Marie.  We are confident that we are headed in the right direction in maintaining the safety and security of the residents of Sault Ste. Marie and Prince Township.

The Township offices are located at 3042 Second Line West.
